Individual Marriage & Family Counseling - Tinley Park

Doreen A. Zaborac & Associates provides counseling to individuals and families in and around Tinley Park, Orland Park, Frankfort, New Lenox, and Mokena, Illinois.

Women's Connection Support Group

      This group is for women over the age of 60 who come to share current or past struggles and receive encouragement from other peers who have had similar struggles. Issues addressed include, but are not limited to, family conflicts, divorce, dating, anxiety, depression, grief, self-esteem and body image, retirement, finances, and past trauma.

      Members are expected to maintain confidentiality and sharing is voluntary. Members can participate by sitting and listening if they choose to do so.

      Group meets on Thursday's from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Divorce Recovery Group

      The Divorce Recovery group is designed to promote personal growth, acceptance and healing through the divorce process. The supportive group environment provides feedback and encouragement for those currently navigating through the pitfalls of divorce and recovery skills for post-divorce survival. Topics include: forgiveness, financial recovery, social skills for new relationship building, conflict-resolution skills with ex-partners, empathic healing skills with children, and communication skills with families and friends.

      Group meets every three weeks on Friday's from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Teen Connect Group

      Teen Connect is a group that focuses on issues related to high school students. The discussions and activities cover issues that frequently challenge teenagers including but not limited to anxiety, depression, self-esteem, social skills, and relationships. The group aims to improve high school aged teenagers' coping skills, relationship skills, and overall sense of self. The group provides teenagers with a chance to connect with themselves and peers in a safe encouraging environment.

      Group meets every Monday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

College Connect Group

      College Connect focuses on issues related to college students. The group's foundation is based on providing a safe and nurturing environment for college aged young adults to meet and discuss issues frequently arising during this state of life. The topics covered in College Connect include but are not limited to anxiety, depression, relationship issues, struggling with the transition into adulthood, stress management, and self esteem. The group provides college aged young adults with the opportunity to connect with peers who face similar obstacles and to receive support in reaching their goals.

      Group meetings are varied depending on schedules of members.

Women's "Happiness Booster" Group

      Our personal exploration group is specifically designed for women seeking genuine change in their lifestyles and who are ready to step out of their comfort zones! Targeted for "empty-nesters" or women in mid-life transitions, our focus will be to create the new goals, exploration tools, and self-confidence needed to redefine their lives! Through group discussions and creative "hands on" experiences, members will be encouraged to expand their social networks, recreational pursuits, and their "enjoyment quotient" of life!

      Group meets on Thursday's from 5:45 p.m. to 7:15 p.m.

Divorce Mediation

      Divorce mediation provides couples with vital information to help them through the divorce or separation process. A collaborative environment encourages couples to create "win-win" situations for themselves and their families. Mediation aids the decision-making process by facilitating accurate communication which will clarify issues and summarize resolved terms. In this open and safe environment, mediation helps to develop options and effective negotiation. Couples are helped to navigate through the challenging questions they must face during their life transition.

      Meetings are by arrangement.

Making Positive Connections Through Expressive Art and Skill Building Exercises

      This group is conducted in a safe, comforting environment and will focus on developing and maintaining friendships, recognizing and expressing emotions in a healthy manner, making wise decisions in the face of peer pressure, confiding in others during difficult life moments, coping with life stressors in a healthy way, discovering values and building on strengths, embracing changes that are out of our control, communicating clearly with others.

      Age Groups are 6-9 years old and 10-13 years old.

Anxiety and Stress Relief Group

      Many people struggle with anxiety and stress in their day to day lives. The impact can be very distressing resulting in feelings of helplessness and loss of control. Often individuals are ashamed of their anxiety and do not know where to turn to get help. This group is designed to assist anyone who feels the physiological and psychological effects of excessive anxiety and stress. Come share your experiences with others in a safe environment and learn skills and techniques to help you reduce anxious symptoms and relax.

We also offer special support to veterans and their families in the form of individual, family, and group counseling. These services are specifically designed to address the emotional difficulties and life adjustments that military families often experience. We are currently registered with Give an Hour, an organization who supports mental health services for our U.S. troops and their family members.
